Customer Testimonials

How to Get Customer Testimonials on your Website?

Customers’ testimonials are very crucial if you want to build or scale your business. Positive testimonials make a positive image of your product or services and build trust between you and your clients.

It also helps you to know your weaknesses and strengths from the eyes of your clients. You can work on the feedback to improve your product or services. It is also easy to implement as a part of your customer journey and client acquisition.

Customers’ testimonials can be gathered in many ways. There are also several places where you can show once you get them. It depends upon the nature or type of your business.

You can request and display testimonials on your Website via social media ( Facebook or Instagram). Or you can show them on Google and other platforms.

But before going towards gathering and displaying testimonials, we have to look for when and how to ask for the testimonials.

When to ask for Testimonials

Customers’ testimonials can be asked without hesitation. Depending upon the nature of your product, you should ask your clients or customers for testimonials. Here are three instances where it is particularly easy to ask for customers’ testimonials.

  1. If your services depend primarily upon customer service, do not be afraid of asking for a testimonial right away. It is the best time for that.
  2. Once you are done with your project, you can immediately go to your client and ask for it. The experience will be fresh, and you are more likely to get a response from, and you will not have to wait for long.
  3. If you are selling a product whose results require a little time to become visible, give your customer a short time before asking for the testimonial.

Asking for customers’ testimonials is a very individualized process. It all depends upon the interaction level between you and the customer. It also relies on the nature of your relationship with your customer and how long it takes them to access your product or services.

Asking for Testimonials

Just like the timing, there are many ways of asking for customers’ testimonials. And this, too, depends upon the nature of your product or services.

The primary two ways are requesting personally or through an automated system. While each has its own merits and demerits, both are effective when it comes to collecting testimonials.

This method requires some additional steps and hard work, but once done; it is really. It is excellent if you can ask for the customer’s feedback personally.

And for this, you will have to spare some of your time to reach out to the customer. You should also have an additional personal interaction with the customer to get feedback personally.

It will come to you further in the future. The more positive touch points you have with your customer, the more likely you are to get repeat ventures and strong referrals.

It is not a bad thing to ask for a testimonial while wrapping up the project. You can ask for the testimonials through the following ways:

  1. Ask for feedback via email once you are done with your project.
  2. Make a quick call and ask them about their experience of working with you.
  3. Request for a short video conference and record their views about your services.
  4. Send them a survey form they can fill out to give their feedback.

Other ways to get testimonials

You can also tell them to leave recommendations and feedback on sites like LinkedIn. Tell them that you have loved working with them, and you have left your feedback and request their feedback as well.

For example, if you are offering an online course, you might want to follow up with your customer after completion of the course. In this case, email automation will allow you to send an email asking for feedback automatically after 30 days.

The emails can be scheduled, and less human effort is required as now you do not have to ask each customer personally. You can automate this part of your reaching out by using an email marketing tool.

If your clients agreed to give you a testimonial but have not given it yet for whatsoever reason, feel free to ask for it. You can ask them politely about their promise. It does not hurt to offer incentives like small gift cards or a discount on your next project for the customers who give feedback.

Ways to Collect Testimonials

You can collect testimonials in many ways, including:

  1. Designing and sending a survey such as Google Survey or SurveyMonkey via email.
  2. Request a short video testimonial.
  3. Direct them to your social media platforms.
  4. Ask them to leave a review on sites like Google and Yelp.
